The Lord of the Rings; Woman King

I am posting vids again! Long story short, I've been sitting on about six completed vids that I've had trouble posting, so I decided to submit two of them to VividCon as a way to force myself to start showing my work to other people again. Also this was the first vid concept I ever had back in 2009, before I even started vidding, and it's been done for a couple of years now so it is seriously time to move on. It's also posted over on my tumblr!

Doctor Who; A Necessary End

I am posting vids again! So I've been sitting on about six completed vids that I've had trouble posting, so I decided to submit two of them to VividCon as a way to force myself to start showing my work to other people again. (Just writing this is giving me mild anxiety, so yaaay.) Also I've been working on this one since 2010, which was before Matt Smith was cast (!!!), so it is seriously time to move on. It's also posted over on my tumblr!

(The audio quotes are a part of the original Saltillo song, and not my addition. They are all taken from Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare.)

Futile Devices, Kirk/Spock (Star Trek Into Darkness)

It turns out I still have a lot of vidding feelings, regardless of my feelings about the movie itself. Sorry-not-sorry! (Though I am sorry about the cam-quality footage.) Cross-posted on my tumblr and livejournal. This is also definitely un-betaed, you have been warned. I really hope you enjoy it!

(no subject)

I feel like a song in a language I don't speak. ...But it's a nice song, even though I have no idea what the fuck it means.

SICK.

I AM SICK.

....I'm almost better though.

So in the throws of my illness, I've returned to Merlin, seeking comfort and also an adorable boy-wizard and also slashy subtext. I have not been disappointed! (I do wish they'd gotten rid of the shit writing while I was away, along with the lack of character development, obsession with the reset button, and complete ignorance of continuity, but hey, you can't have everything in life.) Anyway, a good time has been had by all! And now I get to watch the season finale, which will either be terribly awesome or awesomely terrible, it's anyone's guess at this point really.

Also, I do not have to be back to work until Monday! (At which point I will start working 7 days a week. We'll see how that goes, I have my concerns, but I'm not going to be working 55 hours. Just around 38. But with transportation, it's an extra hour or so there, and an extra hour or so back, which adds up to 52 hours. WE'LL SEE.) Anyway, I am not worrying about that right now, I simply can't start doing that. Instead, I'm going to go and watch Merlin. Hooray for the Slash! Long live the Slash!

Thanksgiving!

Hooray! Holiday time! So Thanksgiving was nice, I was sick all day and generally didn't do much other than EXIST AS A SICK PERSON.

MORE WHEN I CAN HEAR OUT OF BOTH EARS. God I hate being constantly uncomfortable. BREATHING AND HEARING SHOULD NOT BE THIS STRENUOUS.

My epic journey home!

Wooho! I am home!

So yesterday I did not go to work as scheduled, because after going to see Harry Potter 7 Part 1 straight after work on Friday, I got sick, and have been enjoying that experience ever since then. So I called in sick, staggered around the house a bit, and then began the epic road journey with Peter and Sandra. Peter and I had a somewhat difficult time getting out of Philly (traffic, imagine my shock!), but it was enjoyable. I burned a mix CD for the ride, and we discussed how he doesn't watch Glee episodes, just the clips of them singing. I explained who Darren Criss is, and that he needs to watch AVPM. Music was discussed at length. We made it to Sandra (hooray!), and piled into her well-packed car. I took the back seat, and we were off. I was having some initial trouble with cramps, so I wasn't fun for the get go, but we listened to a little Iron and Wine while I recovered from experiencing three uncomfortable things simultaneously (those three things being, A) motion sickness from the car (I forgot my wristies and had to buy more en route.), B) my aforementioned cold, and C) my period (hence the cramping.)). Then we moved on to some awesome music (Weepies, Vienna Teng, etc.), and then we listened to The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris. Once that was done, we moved onto the most recent This American Life, which I slept through part of. We had just enough time to fit in a bit of Girlyman before we pulled into the Wayman's.

I have spent my time since then sleeping, eating soup (SOUP!), watching clips on youtube, watching Glee, watching The Sword in the Stone (I told you, I am completely zoned out, I don't know how I'm finding the coherency to type this), watching Community with Libby, watching more stuff on youtube (including watching Hank Green play videogames, which turned out to be a lot more fun than I'd thought), and petting the cats. KITTEHHHS.

Now I am going to go watch some Merlin, or something. I AM ILL YO. In the, you know, germ infected sense of the word. Blaaah.

The Mother Tongue

I am reading Bill Bryson's "The Mother Tongue", and it is both amazing and fabulous. Love it!

Anyway, things here are, as ever, ridiculous. The museum is being a bitch right now, as I interviewed on Wednesday, was told I would get a call by the end of the week, and since it's Sunday night I think it's safe to assume that this is going to be another long wait.

On the other hand, next weekend I am going to NYC to see the Lord of the Rings Orchestra Two Towers THING with Caitlin and Carolyn. !!! AND we get to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is one of the only art museums in the US that has a definitively better collection than the PMA. (And a bigger budget. ...By like, 3-5 times.) SO EXCITING, AAHHH.

I WISH I DID NOT HAVE TO KEEP THIS JOB. I hate waking up so early. VIDDING IS A NIGHTTIME SPORT, OKAY? I CAN NOT DO IT IN THE AM, WHICH IS WHY NOTHING IS GETTING DONE.

Also, Caitlin and I are going to combine our powers of awesome, and make our own Shoebox Project books! With my manuscript compiling and editing skills, and her promise to learn how to bind books and emboss leather, WE WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE. WAHAHAHA.

Bed now, even though it is only 7:54, WHO THE HELL GOES TO BED AT 7:54 ON A SUNDAY. ME. THIS IS WHAT MY LIFE HAS BECOME. TRAGEDY.

Hello new journal!

So I finally got a Dreamwidth account. DreamWidth? Anyway, I have caved! And so here we are!

My life has been ridiculous, and so I haven't been posting lately. Or writing. For about two months in fact, I wasn't doing anything that wasn't either a) work, or b) essential to continued existence (ie, eating, sleeping, occasionally showering, buying said food to eat, getting from one place to another). It was madness, which is something I quite enjoy (in controlled doses, I wouldn't have survived if I hadn't known there was an definite end to the schedule of insanity). It wasn't just 55+ hours, 7 days a week. It was also getting up at 4:30 on most of said days, which means going to sleep at around 8 (9 if you want to be tired) the night before. MADNESS.

Anyway, I am contemplating my own existence right now. (My existential ponderings are consistently self-involved.) You know, friends and relationships and the tenuous ideas society holds as 'normal'. Only in my head it is less words and more fragmented thoughts (my thoughts, disregarding my internal monologue and the occasional internal dialogue with my fictitious internalization of the people who surround my life, are never formed purely with words, which is why I find most authors grasp of "telepathy", or whatever synonym for mind reading they have chosen to use, so irritating and, my I be blunt, badly done. Very few people seem to acknowledge that the human mind is not just an internal voice that mirrors the vocal one. Thoughts are complex and colored and often of a medium beyond the four usual elements of art; text, music, visuals and motion. Rather, thought is often an experimental performance art piece that no one will pay to see, much less put on, preformed in alternating venues; somedays a dark unventilated basement, and others a grand hallway of polished marble).

And now that I have satisfied my internal English major by using more large words than were strictly necessary, we move to other topics.

Fandoms:
- Sherlock ♥♥♥
- Shoebox ♥♥♥
- Mockingjay
- Merlin
- Coffee Prince

Yesterday I tried to make Potato Cheddar soup. The consistency was atrocious (note to self: leave the veggies to stew longer, so it will not be as soupy, and they will be more mushy), but it tasted good. I had to go to Chinatown to get a bigger pot, because I made a lot of it.

Shoebox has been present since I started rereading it. Chapter 26 brings me great joy, if I ignore all the bits with Peter. Remus and Sirius are so ridicuous. I don't know if any story will ever mean as much to me as Shoebox. I doubt it, given that it coincided with my teenage years in such a way as to make it a permanant fixture for nostalgia. And given it's lasting power, and the fact that it is an extension of the Harry Potter universe, and given that that universe is ever expansive (it is as infinite as the damn universe, I kid you not), it always seems to be something I can turn to, where ever I am in my life.

Basically, I ♥ Shoebox.

Speaking of ♥'s, OH MY GOD SHERLOCK. I am practically salivating for the new episodes, which, you know, aren't due for another 11 months. God, it is just so good. I want to make everyone I know watch it.

More thoughts to come later. I'm finishing up Coffee Prince, which I love dearly. Off to episode 14!
